Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose. Wise words from Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Kerr and while I am not a French satirical journalist, I find the apophism appropriate for a re-entry into what was once a safe space for me, and will hopefully be again.

I apologize that I have stared blankly at those who have had the misfortune to bump into me. At times, I find the constant stimulation a bit much and have taken to removing my glasses which helps me focus on things other than my sight; however, I am not able to see much. Please do not take this as a reflection of yourself or your character. This is entirely a me issue, and I acknowledge as such.

My name is Dr. Henry McCoy. I have several degrees in advance sciences and am currently debating transferring to the medical program to have more practical skills or continue with theoretical quantum astrophysics. I look forward to interacting further with my fellow housemates. I apologize in advance for my awkwardness.

Thank you.

Firm regards,

Hank.

Salk Institute hit with discrimination lawsuit by third female scientist

This is really quite disappointing. The Salk Institute has produced some truly groundbreaking research over the years, but by overlooking female scientists who knows how much progress has been missed. I wish science as a field was better than this, but we've still got a long way to go.

A cell culture flask from my laboratory refrigerator has been replaced by a bottle of 'Beantown Spicy Mustard'.

This is obviously a hilarious joke.

But whoever has played it on me, could you please return the flask now?

It's important.

Also potentially biohazardous.

The cells, that is. Not the mustard. Though that looks rather dangerous as well.

I think I've decided to double major, and also go pre-med because well, it overlaps on some of my courses anyway and it seems like it would be a waste not to take advantage of the opportunity if it's there. I'm still unconvinced as to what I'd like to do once I've graduated, so I should keep as many options open as possible in order to optimised my chances of ending up in a suitable career stream.

This may mean a slightly heavier courseload, if the last week is indicative of the general tenor of things, but that's alright.

I haven't slept for three days. I... think that's alright.

I'm almost certain that I feel fine.

If anyone has a spare coffeemaker I could install in the lab that would be appreciated.

Just a reminder that while L-tryptophan does make you sleepy in the correct concentration, turkey does not contain significantly high enough amounts to cause that effect. The post-food 'coma' that you experience is likely no more than your body being satiated after large amounts of food (especially carbohydrates) and for some people, alcohol.

It seems I'm the latest addition to the ever-growing collection of new arrivals to this fine institution. There seems to be quite an influx of people lately, judging by the state of the journals, which leads to an interesting question. Namely, why now? Obviously with the school term there is a certain amount of sense to relocating now as opposed to some other point during the semester, but not all the introductions have come from students. It certainly bears further investigation, given the potential impact on resource and space allocation. Does anybody have any other hypotheses?

That is to say, hi, I'm Hank. I'll be staying here for a time while I'm studying and I look forward to meeting you all.
