It seems I'm the latest addition to the ever-growing collection of new arrivals to this fine institution. There seems to be quite an influx of people lately, judging by the state of the journals, which leads to an interesting question. Namely, why now? Obviously with the school term there is a certain amount of sense to relocating now as opposed to some other point during the semester, but not all the introductions have come from students. It certainly bears further investigation, given the potential impact on resource and space allocation. Does anybody have any other hypotheses?

That is to say, hi, I'm Hank. I'll be staying here for a time while I'm studying and I look forward to meeting you all.

M-Day happened. Probably made it necessary for a lot of people to move around for one reason or another. Everybody's suspicious of everybody else these days and safe places are in short supply, I guess.

I'm Clint, by the way. Nice to meet you.

Damnit, I was gonna say that and look actually smart for a change. :P

But yeah, I think that's a lot of it. The world's not as safe as it used to be, and it wasn't great even then. Places that train mutants and stop you from being lynched tend to be a priority.

I'm Nica, Hank. Another new-ish arrival. You aren't one of those genius people, are you? The one's who graduate high school at ten and then college before they can drive?

Didn't meant to steal your thunder, so I'm sorry for that. But seriously, re: the genius thing, pretty sure Gabriel hit the nail on the head with the SAT word comment.

I didn't graduate until I was sixteen and I'm only starting college now. I suppose by your definition I'm a late bloomer.

It's nice to meet you, Nica.

Yes, I'm aware of the wider circumstances that have spurred increased mutant migration, but I was referencing a more local scale. It's possible the two are directly related though it would be hard to tell without further research. I wonder...

But yes, hello. It's nice to meet you as well, Clint.

I mean, generally speaking, M-Day increased tensions across the board - global event that kills millions and all that. I think it's definitely more evident on the ground. Police officers are more likely to shoot first and ask questions later. That filters out to the general populace, they get the idea it's okay to react that way.

What kind of further research are you thinking?

Well, one would need access to historical data, both for Xavier's (which I would think would be relatively easy to compile, if it doesn't exist in some form already) and for the larger trends of mutant habitation and migration, which would be less accessible. The unfortunate truth of the matter is that most organisations who hold information of that type are likely to be unsympathetic and their figures therefore suspect, making this a nigh-impossible task to complete with any type of scientific rigor.

You could talk to Adrienne. She's got connections who might have more reliable data, I think, and a database that might be helpful. Or X-Factor Investigations does, at least. If you were interested in pursuing it, anyway.
